Noisy Coworkers Can Be Really Annoying
An important aspect of a person's life is the work environment. If the work environment is bad, then it can affect you throughout the day. You might even bring it home with you, affecting everyone in your family. Not only will your work environment affect your home life, it will also affect your work, and it can determine if you will be a success in your position.
With this being the case, there are a variety of distractions that can interfere with a good working mentality for both yourself and coworkers. For example, noisy coworkers, can actually limit the effectiveness of the office working environment for you and other coworkers. It can be extremely difficult to concentrate on your work when you have noisy, obnoxious people around you, but there are ways to make the situation better.
Dealing with a noisy work environment is difficult, since, in addition to noisy coworkers, you may also have to contend with general office noise. You can try asking noisy coworkers to quiet down a bit, though this may not always be possible. Some--or all--of them might take offense, which you would want to avoid, given that you have to work with them every day. Besides, their noisiness may be a result of their job duties, in which case asking for quietness won't work.
When working an important project, especially one with a time deadline, small distractions such as the sound of a stapler, or the fax machine, can truly wear on you. It is crucial to know how to cope with these types of distractions, as a benefit to both yourself and those around you.
For instance, if you are in a noisy office, one thing you can do is try to relocate your desk to a quieter location. This is occasionally possible, but not always. You may stake out a desk of someone who is leaving or getting a promotion and a better office. Also, if your job allows it, you could try listening to soothing music with head phones. You could also get some ear plugs.
Often people do not realize that their actions are affecting others, so if someone in your office is bothering you, you should politely make them aware of this. There is a good chance that they are bothering other people too, and it is far better to just say something rather than allowing it to continue to bother you.
